It was Thursday before Justine’s semester started up again, so I suggested a quick trip to Woodstock, Vermont. In addition to being the home of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, this area was also hosting a Northern Hawk Owl. Now, this would be a lifer for me, but not Justine, since she was able to see one at Glacier National Park when she was a naturalist there.
We got great looks at it, perching high on some distant spruce at first, and then later coming closer to us as it hunted in the snow.
