James and I just recently released another update to Bird Codes, our app for looking up the four-letter codes for birds that many people use when recording field notes.
This was a relatively small update with just a few changes. The biggest change was combining the search for both the name and code so there is no need to switch back in forth. This was a frequently asked for feature and we are happy that we were able to make it happen. The AOU (American Ornithologists’ Union) recently published an update to their checklist for North America, so we incorporated those changes including new Genus names for the nightjars and finches, plus a couple splits.
In addition, we tweaked the colors a bit to make it look a bit more modern. We hope you like it! The update is free for anyone who already has the app, and on sale in the App Store for $0.99.
