One of the birds that was on my “Most Wanted” list before coming to Idaho was the Sage Thrasher. Luckily, after being here in Idaho for over 3 months, I have been able to see quite a few, especially this past week! I think they are a really awesome bird, and for me, are so iconic of sagebrush flatlands. All of the times I have seen one they were at quite a distance, and so didn’t allow for a decent photo. Or they were close but then took off running before I could get a photo. Luckily a few days ago I was able to sit very close to one as it gathered food for its chicks and I took the photos below. I hope you enjoy these photos of this beautiful bird that I think is a little taken-for-granted here in Idaho.
