A quick glance at the radar shows that all kinds of migration is happening now. A cold front passed through today after an extended period of mediocre migration so this is completely expected.
In the video below you can see that the eastern seaboard is lighting up with birds heading south, encouraged by the colder temperatures and north winds.
In the video below, you are looking at the velocity radar which can tell you the direction and speed of whatever is detected by the radar. Below you can see everything north of the radar station is blue. Based on the scale to the right of the image, this is indicating that those objects are approaching the radar station (negative numbers) while to the south of the station everything is red, indicating those objects are getting further away.
I should really be in bed anticipating the warblers rather than up looking at the radar!
