Black-and-white Warbler – PSU Fall Banding

This morning was the PSU Forest Fest in the Botanic Gardens, so to make access for visitors easier, we moved the banding station up from Big Hollow. With two nets around bird feeders and the rest down along the forest edge, we were ready to catch a nice collection of birds to show the public. The highlight today was this hatch year Black-and-white Warbler…our first of this species for the year! Other birds captured and banded today include 1 Mourning Dove, 4 Downy Woodpeckers (2 recaps), 1 White-breasted Nuthatch, 1 Carolina Wren, 9 Gray Catbirds, 1 Common Yellowthroat, 3 Magnolia Warblers, 7 Song Sparrows, 1 Northern Cardinal, and 15 American Goldfinches.
