Migration thwarted by rain

New to the blog are some animations of the radar from State College and Pittsburgh. I will work on getting them incorporated into the blog every morning. Click on the links and you can see the large animated images for the previous nights migration.

We saw very little migration movement on the radar last night, in part due to spotty rain that was coming from the northwest. Check out the full night radar animation to see this. The velocity radar also supports the idea of limited migration as it shows all movement happening in the NW -> SE direction, the same as the storms.

The wind forecast looks like we will be stuck with north and west winds until Friday night.

Check out Alex’s post for an idea of birds to be expecting in the next week.

I need your help! These reports will only be as good as the feedback I get on these updates. Please leave comments on interesting patterns of migration you are seeing in the field so I can incorporate some ground truthing to my forecasts and predictions. Thanks!
