Calm before the (migration) storm?

Pennsylvania

Nothing going on over Pennsylvania last night as scattered storms and north winds dominated the skies. Look for a big change in weather this weekend with our first push of S winds in some time. Winds will be relatively calm tonight which should allow some birds to head north and then on Friday night we will hope for the predicted SW winds.
Check out Alex’s post for an idea of birds to be expecting in the next week.

The same thing goes for central NY, birds were kept down by the wind and precipitation.

Ohio

Ohio was on the edge of the stronger north winds but both the reflectivity and velocity images show little movement. I would expect a good movement tonight. Check out Birding the Crane Creek for analysis by Kenn Kaufman.

I need your help! These reports will only be as good as the feedback I get on these updates. Please leave comments on interesting patterns of migration you are seeing in the field so I can incorporate some ground truthing to my forecasts and predictions. Thanks!
