On Wednesday I met Steve Brenner for a couple hours of scanning the shorebird flocks at Knox-Marcellus Marsh in the Montezuma NWR. We met pretty early in the morning and passerines were moving around as we drove out Towpath Rd. This afternoon I took my first trip to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, a spot I will probably be visiting frequently. Montezuma has areas of extensive mudflats which make it one of the greatest places around central New York for shorebirds.
